The membership of ASPRS comprises 97 percent of all plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This site provides background on the wide variety of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery procedures as well as offering a plastic surgeon referral service. There is also information on ASPRS, 'education' and other plastic surgery organizations.

An M.D. can be BOARD CERTIFIED by many boards. Only if an individual is BOARD CERTIFIED by the AMERICAN BOARD OF PLASTIC SURGERY should that individual BE CALLED or CALL HIS OR HER SELF a PLASTIC SURGEON. To put it another way if one calls oneself a PLASTIC SURGEON and one is not certified by the AMERICAN BOARD OF PLASTIC SURGERY then that individual is being deceptive.

Only surgeons certified by the AMERICAN BOARD OF PLASTIC SURGERY can be active members of THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF PLASTIC AND RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY.
